Wednesday’s NWAC Quick Recap

Big Bend 4, Yakima Valley 1 – ASU commit Dylan Gardner was great in this one (7ip, 1ER, 8K) for Big Bend while Brandham Ponce hit a 2-run HR and earned the save (1ip, K). Hank Dunn (3-3, R) and Ryne Hays (2-4, 2B, RBI, SB) both had productive days for YVC.
Big Bend 7, Yakima Valley 1 – Another strong pitching performance for BBCC as Timmy Williams went 7+, allowing just 1 run and striking out 7. The top third of the order was productive: Kai Jones (3-4, R, 2B, RBI), Austin Bunn (4-5, R, 3 RBI), and Brandham Ponce (2-4, R, RBI / 1.1ip, 2K). Yak’s Spencer Marenco had a 3 hit day, including a double.

Treasure Valley 5, Wenatchee Valley 3 – TVC’s Cory Apker had a quality start (6ip, 3ER, 3K) and Andrew Sharp had a 3-run triple in the 5th to key the Chukar win. JC Worsham threw the ball well in relief for WVC (3ip, 0H, K) to keep it close.
Wenatchee Valley 3, Treasure Valley 2 (10 inn) – Starter Isaiah Mayfield-Prieto (7.1ip, 2ER, 6K) and Jackson Scherr (2.2ip, 0H, 4K) pitched great for Wenatchee Valley. TVC answered with a stellar performance from Brett Allen (8ip, 1ER, 10K, 139 pitches). Thomas Blakney hit a game-tying RBI double in the bottom of the 9th to send this to extras and Alex Swaney walked it off via an error in the bottom of the 10th to split the day.

SW Oregon 9, Clackamas 1 – Anu McCabe had himself a game for SWOCC going 3-4, 3R, HR, 3 RBI. Bula White scored twice while swiping 2 bags and Chase Stewart added an RBI double. Clackamas struggled offensively but Liam Kiffer (3-4, R) and Jaeden Upton (2-3, RBI) had productive days.
SW Oregon 11, Clackamas 5 – Power and pitching in this one for SWOCC. Bula White and Anu McCabe each hit home runs while bring in 3 RBI a piece. Luke Miles went the final 5 innings of this one, giving up just 2 earned while striking out 7. Clackamas got a double and 2 RBI from Takatoshi Kasai.

Chemeketa 7, Clark 2 – Carl Rumbaugh (8ip, 2ER, 2K) threw a gem, Greyson Hanowell drove in 3 runs, and Kane Kiaunis had 2 doubles in the Chemeketa win. Nick Laurenza and Kaleb Miller each had 2 doubles and 1 RBI.
Chemeketa 5, Clark 1 – Kane Kiaunis went 6, allowing 1 earned and striking out 6 for the Storm. Amerson Dix & Greyson Hanowell each went 2-4, R, 2 RBI. Carter Monda scored the lone run for Clark, going 1-2, R, BB, SB.

Spokane 13, Blue Mountain 2 (7 inn) – Ryun Cross went 6 strong, allowing 2 earned and striking out 8 for Spokane. Garrett Gores hit a homer and drove in 3, Braeden Cordes and Eric Mast each recorded 2 RBI in the win. Zachary Walsh scored the lone run for Blue Mountain.
Spokane 15, Blue Mountain 3 (7 inn) – Spokane got a grand slam from Thomas Edwards (5 total RBI) and a 3 run shot from Eric Mast in the 12 run win. Garrett Gores threw it great over 5 innings, allowing just 1 hit with 4K’s. BMCC had a nice relief performance from Tanner Martinez (2.2ip, 1H, 0R, 2K).

Columbia Basin 7, Walla Walla 2 – Looks like CBC went openers before handing the ball to Ian Hughes (6ip, 1ER, 9K). Brooks Rasmussen (3-5, 3 RBI) and Will Baker (1-2, R, 2 RBI) keyed the CBC offense. Chad Redigner headlined the Walla Walla offense, going 2-4, R, 2B, RBI.
Columbia Basin 14, Walla Walla 1 (8 inn) – CBC’s Josh Aribal went the last 4 innings and struck out 10 batters. Brooks Rasmussen (2-3, 2R, 2B, 4RBI) had another big game, Brent Bachelor and Steven Meier each added 2 RBI. Bobby Holtzinger brought home the lone run, finishing 2-3, 2B, RBI.
