British Columbia and Seattle U. split, Oregon Tech and Bushnell split, Corban won 3 of 4 vs. C. of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State swept Eastern Oregon.

Oregon Tech and Bushnell split four games

The Beacons won the first game 8-6. The Hustlin’ Owls led 5-1 after six innings, but the Beacons took the lead with five runs in the bottom of the seventh. Jordan Wilson hit a three-run home run, Ethan Stacy hit an RBI triple, then scored on a throwing error. The Beacons got the winning run in the eighth inning with a two-RBI double by Wilson. The Owls got one back in the top of the ninth with a home run by Ka’ala Tam. They got the tying run to the plate, but the game ended with a double play. Kai Keamo pitched the fifth through seventh innings for the Beacons, allowed two runs on two hits, got the win. Jayden Soriano pitched a hitless eighth inning for the Beacons. Box score

The Owls won the second game 14-7. The Beacons had a early 4-2 lead, but the Owls took the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning, starting with a sacrifice fly by Korrey Siracusa, a two-RBI triple by Tyler Horner, an RBI single by Ka’ala Tam, and Julien Jones scoring on an attempt to pick off Tam that went astray. The winning run came in the fifth inning, when Sircusa was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The Owls adding two more runs in the fifth, and three more runs in the seventh. Horner finished 2-for-4 with four RBI. Starter Lalo Barraza got the win, pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed four earned runs on eight hits, struck out four. Each team scored three unearned runs. The Beacons won the third game 11-0, halted after seven innings by the mercy rule. The Beacons scored five runs in the second inning, led by a three-run home run by Ethan Stacy. They moved into mercy rule territory with six runs in the fifth inning, finished off by a two-run home run by Liam Kerr. Trevor Hammond and Colby Knutzen combined for the shutout. Hammond pitched five innings, allowed three hits, struck out three, got the win. Knutzen pitched the final two innings, allowed two hits, struck out two. Box score

The Owls rebounded to win the fourth game 10-4. They got on the board in the fifth inning with an RBI double by Matthew Ortiz and an RBI single by Ka’ala Tam. The Beacons took a brief 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run home run by Jacob Richardson and a home run by Kyle Casperson. However, the Owls tied it in the top of the sixth with an RBI single by Brodie Marino, then took the lead for good with three runs in the top of the seventh (including a two-RBI double by Alonzo Vergara), and three more in the top of the eighth. Riley Cronin got the win in relief for the Owls; he pitched the last four innings, allowed one run on five hits, struck out two. Recap Box score

British Columbia and Division I Seattle U. split two games

The Thunderbirds won the first game 7-3 (10 innings). They led in the early going, with an RBI double by Aaron Marsh, and an RBI single by Mike Fitzsimmons. The Redhawks tied it 3-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, when Kenji Suzuki hit an RBI double, then scored on a wild pitch. The next four innings were scoreless. In the top of the tenth, the Thunderbirds quickly loaded the bases with singles by Brett Corbeth, Marsh, and Fitzsimmons. Then, Brandon Hupe hit a home run that was described as “way out.” The Thunderbird pitchers were Sean Heppner (first four innings, one run on four hits, three strikeouts), Ryan Heppner (fifth through seventh innings, two runs on four hits, three strikeouts), and Daniel Orfaly (final three innings, no runs on one hit, five strikeouts). Orfaly got the win. Peter Chronowski, who got the loss, pitched five shutout innings prior to giving up the home run by Hupe. He allowed a total of eight hits, struck out three. Recap Box score

The Redhawks won the second game 8-2. They got a great start from Blake Smith, who held the Thunderbirds hitless for five innings, went seven innings, allowed two runs on four hits, struck out nine. Matt Boissoneault had a big day at the plate for the Redhawks; two two-run home runs, including the winning run in the bottom of the third. The Thunderbird runs came on a two-RBI double by Mike Fitzsimmons. Recap Box score

Corban won three of four vs. College of Idaho

The Coyotes won the first game 3-2, in a good game at Volcanoes Stadium. Ryan Clay opened the scoring with a home run for the Warriors in the bottom of the first. The Coyotes answered with a run in the top of the second scored when Ben Gaff came home when Jake Denison stole second. There was no more scoring until the top of the seventh, when Denison hit an RBI single, and Ben Hansen hit an RBI single for the winning run. The Warriors got to within one run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI triple by Brad Pellkofer with two out, but he was stranded on third when Scott Artzer flied out. The Coyotes got another good start from Nick Eliason; 8 2/3 innings pitched, two runs on four hits, nine strikeouts. He is now 5-1 on the season, has 64 strikeouts. Nate Martin went the distance for the Warriors, allowed seven hits, struck out three. Box score

The Warriors won the second game 14-4, mercy-ruled after seven innings. The Coyotes led 4-1 after three innings, but they were shut out the rest of the way by Bryce Bridge (who got the win), and Alex Hakes, who pitched two hitless innings. The Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with a two-RBI single by Nainoa Ka’ahanui, a bunt RBI single by Aidan Bunn, and two-run sacrifice fly by Ryan Clay (the first one was the winning run). They put it away with a three-run home run by Ka’ahanui in the bottom of the fifth, and added five more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Ka’ahanui finished 3-for-4 with seven RBI. Recap Box score

The Warriors won the third game 6-4. They got an early 3-1 lead in the third inning with a two-RBI single by Keenan O’Brien. The Coyotes took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth with a two-run home run by Kirby Robertson. The Warriors tied it in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly by Elijah Maris, then got the winning run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single by O’Brien. O’Brien hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth for the insurance run. Giovanni Cervantes got the win in relief; pitched 2 1/3 hitless innings. Jaren Childs, who pitched 2 2/3 hitless innings, got a save. Box score

The Warriors won the fourth game 11-10. The Coyotes put up eight runs in the top of the third, but the Warriors won it with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth. The winning run was balked in. Brad Pellkofer and Chris Grayson each batted in two runs for the Warriors, but a key factor for them was, Jaren Childs, who got a save in the previous game, held the Coyotes off the board for the final four innings, allowed only two hits. Lewis-Clark State swept four games at Eastern Oregon

The Mountaineers nearly pulled out the second game, losing 15-14. The game was tied 10-10 after seven innings. The Warriors took the lead in the top of the eighth on a solo home run by Nick Seamons. They scored four runs in the top of the ninth, two of them walked in, and led 15-10. In the bottom of the ninth, Rogelio Gonzalez hit an RBI single, Noah Mayfield hit a sacrifice fly, Garret Kollar hit an RBI double, and Easton Watterson hit an RBI single. With two out and the tying run on first, the Warriors sent in Eli Shubert to get the final out. He did; Youhyeon Choi (Seoul, South Korea) flied out. Cameron Smith got the win, despite allowing five runs on eight hits in 2 1/3 innings of work. Recap Box score

The Mountaineers played another close game against last year’s national runners-up in the third game, losing 5-4. They never led this one; Jakob Marquez hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning. The Mountaineers answered with an RBI double by Rogelio Gonzalez in the bottom of the second, but the Warriors went ahead for good with a two-run home run by Pu’ukani De Sa in the top of the third. They added two more with an RBI single by Leo Rivera and a home run by Nick Seamons (the winning run) in the top of the fourth. The Mountaineers made it a one-run game with a three-run home run by Austin Gerding in the bottom of the fourth. Neither team scored the rest of the way. The Mountaineers stranded two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fifth, had a baserunner picked off in the bottom of the sixth, and stranded a runner at third in the bottom of the eighth. Warriors starter Decker Stedman got the win, but it was Jantzen Lucas and Bryson Spagnuolo that kept the Mountaineers off the board for the final four innings. Alex Farnsworth pitched the final four innings for the Mountaineers, allowed two hits, struck out three. Box score
