Sam Haney: A Baseball Journey from Lake Oswego to Binghamton University

Sam Haney, a graduate student at Binghamton University, has had an incredible journey in the world of college baseball. Before transferring to Binghamton for the 2023-24 academic year, Haney spent time at Saint Peter’s University, Clark College, and Ottawa University, Arizona.


High School

Haney’s baseball journey began at Lake Oswego High School, where he excelled in both baseball and football. He earned First Team All-Conference honors three times and Oregon 6A All-State recognition twice during his high school baseball career. He was also selected First Team All-Conference, All-State and an Oregon All-Star Game Linebacker in football.

Haney went to Ottawa University, Arizona after high school before medically redshirting for baseball team in the 2018-19 academic year.

Clark College (2020)

Haney returned to the northwest and played for Clark College during the 2020 season. Although the season was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he managed to make a significant impact in the seven games he played. Haney boasted a .381 batting average, a .519 on-base percentage, and a .619 slug percentage.

St. Peter’s University (2022-2023)

Haney spent two memorable years at St. Peter’s University, where he set the school’s single-season home run record with 10 in 2023. That season, he showcased his talent with a .320 batting average, a .455 on-base percentage, and a .566 slug percentage. Haney also contributed 13 doubles, 42 runs scored, and 47 runs batted in.

Binghamton University (2024)

Haney transferred to Binghamton for the 2024 baseball season.
