The Thunderbirds have a long tradition of spending part of the month of February in California. They will start the season on February 9 in Fullerton, with two games. The first one is against host Hope International (preseason rank #11, 33-11 last season ). Later that day, they will play a neutral site game against Embry-Riddle (Arizona) (19-25). They will play the same two teams again the next day, and play Hope International again on February 13.
Another long-time tradition for the Thunderbirds is playing The Master’s University (31-16) in Santa Clarita, a team that is competitive every year. They will play the Mustangs February 15 and 16. They will also play neutral site games on the same field against Providence Christian (5-31) on February 16 and 17.
The Thunderbirds play closer to home at Bushnell (23-25) for a four-game series February 23-24. They go to visit national runners-up Lewis-Clark State (#3, 37-18) for another four-game series March 1-3.
The Thunderbirds finally get a home four-game series March 8-10 against the College of Idaho (31-18). They start Cascade Collegiate Conference play at last year’s regular season champion, Oregon Tech (33-19), March 16-17. They will finish their regular season hosting Lewis-Clark State April 19-21, and this series counts in the conference standings.
No word yet on whether the Thunderbirds will play an exhibition game against the Class A Vancouver Canadians this year.
