#7 Oregon State 11, Michigan 1 (7) – The Beavers pounded out 13 hits in seven innings, including doubles from Micah McDowell and Jabin Trosky and a 2-run homer by Gavin Turley. Jacob Kmatz dominated on the mound, striking out 10 over 5.1 innings while allowing just 1 run.
Washington State 5, Kansas 4 – Washington State came from behind to defeat Kansas 5-4. The Cougars scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th inning, capped by a 3-run homer from Joey Kramer, to overcome a 4-2 deficit. Kramer finished with 3 RBIs. Alan Shibley also homered for WSU. Starter Connor Wilford went 6 innings, allowed 4 runs. Kaden Wickersham earned the win in relief, pitching the final 3 frames without allowing a run.
G1: Oregon 15, Lafayette 4 – Oregon’s offense exploded for 15 runs on 13 hits, led by outfielder Justin Cassella who went 2-4 with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored. First baseman Jacob Walsh also had a huge day at the plate, going 3-4 with 2 doubles, a home run, and 5 RBIs. On the mound, Oregon’s pitchers combined to strike out 16 Lafayette batters, with starter Grayson Grinsell striking out 10 over 4 innings and Ryan Featherston striking out 5 over the next 4 innings to earn the win. Oregon’s offense scored in 6 different innings, plating 6 runs in the 3rd and 5th innings.
G2: Oregon 7, Lafayette 4
#6 Vanderbilt 4, Gonzaga 3 – Gonzaga managed just 5 hits and struck out 14 times against Vanderbilt pitching. The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning on a 2-RBI double by catcher Donovan Ratfield and an RBI groundout by first baseman Jace Phelan. However, Vanderbilt chipped away with single runs in the 4th and 7th innings before plating 2 in the 9th to walk-off the Bulldogs. Gonzaga starter Josh Feld lasted 4.1 innings before giving way to the bullpen, which allowed the decisive runs late.
San Jose State 4, Seattle U 3 – The Redhawks got on the board first with 2 runs in the 3rd inning on an RBI double by Cole Kleckner and a sacrifice fly from Trevor Antonson. Seattle added another run in the 6th on a sacrifice fly by Sam Kane to take a 3-1 lead. However, San Jose State chipped away, tying it up on solo homers in the 6th and 8th innings. The game went to extras, and San Jose State pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the 10th on an RBI single by Cadena. Despite the tough loss, the Redhawks had some bright spots offensively. Kleckner and Cam Dayton each had 2 hits, while Antonson added an RBI. On the mound, starter Peter Chronowski threw 6 solid innings, allowing just 2 runs.
Washington 11, Texas A&M-CC 4
USC 6, Portland 5
G1: Whitworth 7, Schreiner 1 (7) – Whitworth scored 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning thanks to errors by Schreiner. Austin Paul, Aidan Morrison, and Henry Zaske led Whitworth’s offense, with Paul hitting a 2-run double in the 6th. Jack Leary earned the win for Whitworth, pitching a complete game and allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 9.
G2: Whitworth 8, Schreiner 2 – Kevin Corder led the way going 2-3 with a double and scoring three times. Aaron Clogston, Spencer Shipman, and Ty Quiggle finished with 2 RBIs apiece. On the mound, starter Quentin O’Connor went 4 innings allowing just 1 run. Seth Mahler earned the win in relief, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings. The Whitworth bullpen combined to allow just 1 run over the final 5 innings.
#19 Northwest Nazarene 13, #12 Colorado Mesa 7 – Northwest Nazarene scored in 7 of the 9 innings and tallied 16 hits. They were led offensively by Karpstein who went 3-5 with 6 RBIs including two bases-clearing doubles. Trevor Tishenkel homered and had 2 RBIs, while Carter Walsh, Casey Wayne, and Gavin Brubaker each scored twice. On the mound, Wade Duncan earned the win in relief for the Nighthawks.
G1: Lewis & Clark 5, Puget Sound 2 – Lewis & Clark scored four runs in the bottom of the 3rd, including a three-run homer by Luke Bass and a solo homer by Jakob Ghammachi. Lewis & Clark added another run in the bottom of the 7th on an RBI single by Will Heron. Puget Sound was held scoreless until the top of the 8th inning when they scored two runs on a two-RBI double by Nathan Blocher. Puget Sound finished with 7 hits while Lewis & Clark had 11 hits. Owen Eisen got the win for Lewis & Clark (6IP, 0R, 3K) while Davis Franklin (5IP, 4R (3ER), 8K) took the loss for Puget Sound. Pios closer Anthony Clerici came in to close it out and record his first save of the season.
G2: Lewis & Clark 5, Puget Sound 4 – Lewis & Clark edged Puget Sound 5-4 in a back-and-forth affair. Puget Sound jumped ahead 2-0 in the 1st on Davis Franklin’s two-run homer. Lewis & Clark answered with single runs in the 1st on a sac fly, the 3rd on Luke Bass’ RBI double, and the 6th on Will Heron’s two-run blast for a 4-2 lead. Puget Sound closed within one in the 6th when Aidan Sullivan doubled home a run. Joaquin Sandoval’s solo shot in the 7th extended Lewis & Clark’s advantage to 5-3. Puget Sound threatened in the 9th, plating a run on Drew Kamihara’s RBI double but stranded the bases loaded. Anthony Clerici earned the save, just hours after recording the save in game one.
