British Columbia swept two close games against Bushnell, Lewis-Clark State completed the series sweep of College of Idaho.
At Vancouver, BC. First game: British Columbia 6, Bushnell 4 (10 innings). Vicarte Domingo relieved Ryan Beitel in the eighth inning, after the Beacons tied the game 4-4 with a two-RBI double by Daniel Furman. Domingo struck out the side in the eighth inning, got three-up three-down in the ninth. He walked a batter in the tenth, but that batter was caught stealing, so Domingo still faced only the minimum nine batters. The bottom of the tenth opened with a ground out by Trent Lenihan. The next batter, Jonny McGill, was hit by a pitch. He was followed by Mitchell Middlemiss, and he hit a home run to win it.
Middlemiss also opened the scoring with a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the first. The Beacons answered with an RBI double by Reece Carganilla and a sacrifice fly by Furman in the top of the second inning. The Thunderbirds took the lead again in the sixth inning when Lenihan scored when Ardan Berg reached on an error, and David Draayers hit an RBI single.
Beitel started and went seven innings, allowed four runs on seven hits, struck out four. Austin Wolfe started for the Beacons, went 5 1/3 innings, allowed three earned runs on six hits, struck out five. Colby Knutzen took the mound in the ninth inning; he recorded a strikeout, and the only hit he allowed was the home run by Middlemiss. Draayers finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. Furman finished 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.

Second game: British Columbia 15, Bushnell 9. This game was closer than the final score indicates. The Beacons led 8-6 going into the bottom of the sixth inning, but a three-run home run by Jonny McGill in the bottom of the sixth gave the Thunderbirds a 10-8 lead and the winning run, and Kyle Anderson pinch-hit a two-run home run later in that inning to increase the Thunderbirds’ lead to 13-8. They added a run in the seventh inning with an RBI double by Mitch Middlemiss and one more in the eighth inning with a sacrifice fly by Kellen Bourne.
Daniel Orfaly started for the Thunderbirds. He recorded seven strikeouts, but he gave up eight runs (only one of them earned) on eight hits during 5 1/3 innings. He was relieved by Dylan Myttenar, who faced eight batters. He struck out two of them to get out of the sixth inning. He gave up three consecutive hits in the seventh inning, but a big double play followed by a ground out got him out of the inning without any damage done. He got the win. Adam Khan then pitched a perfect eighth inning. Max Chapman got the loss. At Lewiston, ID. Lewis-Clark State 15, College of Idaho 3. The Coyotes scored a run in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Jack Ingraham, and didn’t score again until the eight inning. The Warriors got two runs in the bottom of the second, then got all the runs they needed in the fifth. The inning started with an RBI single by Charlie Updegrave. Jack Sheward hit a two-RBI double for the winning run, and Pu’ukani De Sa added an RBI single. The Warriors got three more runs in the sixth inning, and six more in the eighth, capped by a grand slam home run by Carter Booth. Five Warrior pitchers combined to limit the Coyotes to six hits. Starter Hiroyuki Yamada got the win; he pitched five innings, allowed one run on four hits, struck out seven. Oliver Massie got the loss.
