Warner Pacific 18, Bushnell 9 at Springfield, OR. A Quality win for the Knights’ first-year program. They got the early lead in the top of the first with an unearned run that scored when Alex Nisbet reached on a fielder’s choice. Nisbet got an RBI single in the top of the third inning, then scored on a ground out by Collin Schiller. Shawn Hunt hit an RBI single to give the Knights a 4-0 lead. The next batter, Trenten Lowe, hit a ball back to the mound, injuring Beacons starter Austin Wolfe. Wolfe had to leave the game, and was replaced by Loreto Siniscalchi. Siniscalchi was greeted with a single by Giovanny Alvillar, followed by a two-RBI single by Mitchell Thoma-Britt.The next batter, Connor Hale, hit a two-RBI double. Siniscalchi walked in a run before finally getting out of the inning with the Beacons trailing 9-0.
The Beacons got on the board with a three-run home run by Jordan Wilson in the bottom of the third. They got closer with a two-run home run by Albert Jennings in the bottom of the fifth, and trailed 9-5. However, the Knights put it away with eight runs in the top of the seventh, starting with a two-RBI single by Nisbet, followed by a two-run home run by Jarrod Seibel. The Beacons got four runs back in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run home run by Wilson, an RBI double by Cade Crist, and a sacrifice fly by Jacob Richardson. That made the score 17-9, but the Beacons didn’t get any closer.
Knight starter Ayden Yaeger pitched five innings, allowed four earned runs on four hits, struck out two, got the win. Kaden Hindman went the rest of the way, allowed four runs on six hits. Wolfe got the loss. Hale finished 4-for-6 with two doubles, three RBI,and three runs scored. Wilson finished 2-for-4 with two home runs and five RBI. Jennings finished 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and two RBI. Box score
The second game of the double-header was postponed. They will play a double-header on Saturday at 11 AM, and the fourth game of the series will be played on Sunday.
