Cascade Collegiate Conference recap for March 24

British Columbia defeated Corban, and Lewis-Clark State swept a double-header at Eastern Oregon.

British Columbia 9, Corban 5 at Keizer, OR. The Warriors led this game 3-2 after four innings, but the Thunderbirds put it away with six runs in the top of the fifth inning, on an RBI single by Kyle Yip, a hit batter, a sacrifice fly by Aidan Rose (another run scored on an error on the play), and a two-run home run by Kaden Zarowny (his second home run of the game). Aaron Marsh added a solo home run in the sixth.

Daniel Orfaly got the start and the win. He pitched five innings, allowed two earned runs on three hits, struck out four, walked five. Owen McConnell pitched three innings, allowed one run on two hits. Alex Lee pitched the ninth inning, allowed one run on two hits. Sam Greenhalgh got the loss. Jonny McGill, Marsh, David Draayers, David Krahn, and Zarowny all had two hits. Isaac Bateman went 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI for the Warriors. box score recap

The Thunderbirds swept the four-game series.

Lewis-Clark State 22, Eastern Oregon 4 at La Grande, OR. Halted by the run rule after seven innings. Jack Sheward hit two home runs, went 3-for-4 with six RBI. Bulla Ephan went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Charlie Updegrave, Anthony Karagiannopoulos, Jakob Marquez, and Spencer Zeller also hit home runs. Jantzen Lucas pitched six innings for the Warriors, allowed two runs on five hits, struck out seven. Greyson McDaniel and Mario Landeros hit home runs for the Mountaineers. box score

Lewis-Clark State 13, Eastern Oregon 6. The Warriors started out with five runs in the top of the first inning. However, the Mountaineers got two runs in the bottom of the second, and three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie it 5-5. Trevor Baker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to give the Mountaineers a 6-5 lead. However, they didn’t score again. Charlie Updegrave hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth for the winning run. In the top of the seventh, Ike George and Updegrave hit RBI singles, then Jakob Marquez hit a grand slam home run. Abe Affholter hit an RBI single in the top of the ninth to complete the scoring.

Kolby Solomon got the win in relief, pitched 3 1/3 innings, didn’t allow a hit, struck out three. Jake Herrera got the loss. Marquez finished 3-for-5 with five RBI. Updegrave went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Baker went 4-for-5 with three RBI. box score recap

The Warriors won the series three games to one.
