The Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) weekly awards unveiled the conference’s top performers, shining a spotlight on two exceptional baseball talents who dominated the diamond this past weekend. With Bushnell’s Kai Keamo claiming Pitcher of the Week and Eastern Oregon’s Mario Landeros earning Hitter of the Week honors.
Pitcher of the Week – Kai Keamo, Bushnell
Junior pitcher Kai Keamo from Bushnell delivered a pitching performance that will be remembered throughout the conference. In a dominant 17-0 victory against Warner Pacific, Keamo achieved a career-high ten strikeouts while throwing five shutout innings. His precision on the mound was evident as he allowed just three hits, further reducing his season ERA to an impressive 2.70.
Keamo’s performance exemplified pure pitching mastery. By systematically dismantling the Warner Pacific lineup, he demonstrated why he’s considered one of the most formidable pitchers in the CCC. His ability to control the game and consistently find the strike zone set him apart as a true ace.
Hitter of the Week – Mario Landeros, Eastern Oregon
On the offensive side, Eastern Oregon University’s Mario Landeros emerged as one of the CCC’s most dangerous hitters. The senior catcher from Corona, California, put on a clinic during a crucial series that included an 11-9 upset over 20th-ranked Lewis-Clark State College. Landeros’s weekend was nothing short of spectacular.
The senior recorded ten hits, including two doubles and three home runs, which translated to a .500 batting average and an incredible 1.650 slugging percentage, driving in nine runs and scoring four himself. His defensive performance was equally impressive, playing a perfect game behind the plate.
Landeros’s offensive explosion highlighted Eastern Oregon’s potential to compete with top-ranked teams. His ability to deliver in high-pressure situations demonstrates why he’s considered one of the CCC’s most dynamic players.
