Lewis-Clark State swept Bushnell, Oregon Tech swept Corban, and Warner Pacific swept College of Idaho. British Columbia and Eastern Oregon split a double-header.
Lewis-Clark State 10, Bushnell 5
at Springfield, OR. This game
was close for six innings; the Warriors led 4-3. The Warriors pulled
away with three runs in the top of the seventh, with an RBI single by
Noah Weintraub and two runs walked in; the winning run came on a walk
drawn by Brandon Cabrera. They added a solo home run by Jack Sheward
in the eighth inning, and an RBI double by Cabrera and a sacrifice
fly by Garrett Bevacqua in the ninth.
Jakob Marquez hit a home run for
the Warriors in the second inning to open the scoring. Albert
Jennings hit a two-run home run for the Beacons in the bottom of the
third, and Bulla Ephan hit a two-run home run for the Warriors in the
top of the sixth. Warrior starter Jadon Williamson got the win; he
pitched six innings, allowed three runs on five hits, struck out 11.
Reliever Nate Rasmussen got the loss. Dominic Signorelli finished
3-for-4 with a triple, a double, and two runs scored for the
Warriors. Cade Crist went 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Beacons. box

Lewis-Clark State 11, Bushnell 10. The
Beacons led 7-2 after five innings; Will Hudler hit a two-RBI single,
Jordan Wilson hit a two-run home run, and Ethan Stacy and Hudler hit
solo home runs. The Warriors took an 8-7 lead in the top of the sixth
inning with three-run home runs by both Dominic Signorelli and
Anthony Karagiannopoulos. The Beacons took back the lead in the
bottom of the sixth with a two-RBI single by Stacy, and added an RBI
single by Cade Crist. However, Jack Sheward hit a home run in the top
of the seventh, and Jakob Marquez hit a two-run home run for the
winning run.
The pitchers took over for the
rest of the game. Tyler Biddinger took over from Alec Gums, who gave
up the seventh-inning home runs, and held the Warriors hitless for
the final three innings; he retired all nine batters he faced, struck
out four of them. Robby Butenschoen took the mound for the Warriors
in the sixth inning. He gave up two runs that were charged to Joey
Estrada, but he didn’t allow a hit the rest of the way, and he
struck out eight. Three of those strikeouts were in the bottom of the
ninth, preventing the Beacons from tying it up. He got the win. Gums
got the loss.
Noah Weintraub also hit a home
run for the Warriors. Marquez was the only Warrior with two hits.
Chase Nye hit two doubles for the Beacons, scored three runs. box

Oregon Tech 14, Corban 3 at
Klamath Falls, OR. Halted by the run rule after seven innings. The
Hustlin’ Owls led 14-0
after five innings. Matthew Ortiz went 4-for-4 with three RBI. Logan
Macy and Ka’ala Tam also had three RBI. Tim Williams pitched the
first six innings for the Owls, allowed one run on four hits, struck
out six. box

Oregon Tech 15, Corban 5. Halted
by the run rule after seven innings. The Hustlin’ Owls put it away
with eight runs in the bottom of the first, led by two-RBI doubles by
Dane Bradshaw and Tyler Horner. Ty Blakely hit a two-RBI single in
the second inning, and Patrick Barry hit a two-RBI triple in the
fourth inning. Starter Landon Cheney got the win; he scattered 12
hits over five innings, allowed five runs, struck out three. Drake
Aboud pitched the final two innings, didn’t allow a hit. Bradshaw
finished 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored. The Warriors
actually out-hit the Owls 12-11; Joshua Miyazawa and Ryan Clay both
went 3-for-5 with a double. box

Warner Pacific 12, College of Idaho 4 at
Portland, OR. The Knights got four runs in the bottom of the first on
an RBI single by Mitchell Thoma-Britt, a two-RBI double by Alex
Nisbet, and a sacrifice fly by Trenten Lowe. They added three more in
the bottom of the third on a three-run home run by Nisbet, and two
more in the fourth on a two-run home by by Mason Deverna. The Coyotes
got a run in the first inning, didn’t score again until the eighth.
Ayden Yaeger pitched eight innings for the Knights, allowed four runs
on five hits, struck out two, threw 131 pitches.
Coyote starter Nate Vidlak got the loss. Nisbet finished 4-for-5 with
six RBI. Caden Casagrande had two hits, one of them a double, for the
Coyotes. box

Warner Pacific 5, College of Idaho 4. The
Coyotes got on the board first in the top of the second with an RBI
single by Connor Olsen and Pete Bacon getting an RBI by reaching on a
fielder’s choice. The Knights tied it in the bottom of the second
with solo home runs by Alex Nisbet and Mathew Revels. In the bottom
of the third, Nisbet hit an RBI double and Revels hit an RBI single
to give the Knights a 4-2 lead. Revels hit an RBI double in the fifth
for the winning run. The Coyotes got to within one run in the top of
the ninth with RBI singles by Cannon Morgan and James Hull, and they
had the tying run on first with two out, but a fly out ended the
game.
Starter Mason Deverna got the
win. He pitched seven innings, allowed two runs on eight hits, struck
out nine, threw 97 pitches. He also hit a double. Revels finished
3-for-4 with three RBI. Morgan finished 3-for-4. Coyote starter
Dawson Cummins got the loss. box

British Columbia 15, Eastern Oregon 5 at
La Grande, OR. Halted by the run rule after eight innings. The
Thunderbirds got all the runs they needed in the top of the first
inning, on a two-RBI single by Aaron Marsh and RBI singles by Kellen
Bourne, Aidan Rose, and Kaden Zarowny. Mitchell Middlemiss hit a
two-run home run in the second inning, and a solo home run in the
fourth inning. Trent Lenihan hit a two-run home run in the seventh
inning, and Kyle Yip hit a three-run home run in the eighth to give
the Thunderbirds the ten-run margin.
Will Anderson got the start and
the win for the Thunderbirds, pitched six innings, allowed three runs
on nine hits, struck out four. Shane Sinclair got the loss. Marsh
finished 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored. Trevor Baker
went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Mountaineers. box

Eastern Oregon 12, British Columbia 11. The
Thunderbirds scored first with an RBI single by Trent Lenihan in the
top of the third inning, but the Mountaineers led most of the way.
They took the lead in the bottom of the third with a two-RBI double
by Greyson McDaniel. They added a run scored on a throwing error and
an RBI single by Trevor Baker in the fourth inning, and led 5-1. The
Thunderbirds closed to 7-6 in the seventh with a two-run home run by
Jonny McGill (his second of the game) and a sacrifice fly by Kyle
Yip. They scored five runs in the top of the eighth with a two-RBI
single by Trent Lenihan (who later scored on a wild pitch), an RBI
single by Mitchell Middlemiss, and an RBI double by Kyle Yip. They
led 11-7, but the Mountaineers tied it in the bottom of the eighth
with a RBI singles by Mario Landeros and Carson Gerding, and Gerding
scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Then pinch hitter Alex Olague
led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run to win it.
Will Seslar started for the
Mountaineers, went six innings, allowed four runs on six hits, struck
out six. It was Jake Herrera who put out the fire in the top of the
eighth inning. Baker shut out the Thunderbirds in the top of the
ninth, allowed one hit, struck out one, and got the win. He was also
4-for-4 at the plate with a double and three RBI. Adam Khan, who
faced two batters prior to the Olague home run, got the loss. McGill
finished 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three RBI, and four
runs scored. box
