LACEY, Wash. — Saint Martin’s University has named Jacob Garsez as the new head coach of the Saints baseball team, igniting hope for a program eager to rebound. With a decade of coaching success, Garsez brings a proven ability to transform teams and foster growth on and off the diamond.

Garsez arrives from Sonoma State University, where he coached the baseball team until the school unfortunately shut down its athletics program in January 2025. Before that, he made his mark at Oregon Tech from 2020 to 2024, compiling a 120-87 record. He secured a Cascade Conference championship for the Hustlin’ Owls in 2023, their first in program history. His Oregon Tech squads earned NAIA Top 25 rankings and produced standout players, including an All-American and conference award winners. From 2015 to 2019, Garsez built a dominant program at the University of Antelope Valley, posting a 156-65-2 record and leading the team to the 2018 NAIA World Series. His teams consistently competed at a high level, earning national recognition.

A former player at Columbia Basin College, Garsez holds degrees from George Fox University and The College of Idaho. As a certified Mental Performance Coach, he prioritizes mental resilience and academic achievement, aiming to develop well-rounded athletes. “I’m thrilled to lead Saint Martin’s baseball and build a program we can all be proud of,” Garsez said. “My family and I are excited to join this community and start this journey.” The Saints struggled in 2025, finishing 3-46 (3-29 GNAC), but six players earned All-Conference honors. With Garsez at the helm, Saint Martin’s is poised to chase a brighter future in the GNAC.
