Oregon Tech won 3 of 4 at Lewis-Clark State, Bushnell swept a double-header at Corban, British Columbia swept Eastern Oregon, C. of Idaho won two games at Linfield.

Oregon Tech won three of four at Lewis-Clark State

The Hustlin’ Owls won the first game 3-0. Patrick Arman and Braeden Bellum combined for the one-hitter. Arman pitched seven innings, didn’t allow the hit until the fifth inning. The Owls got the only run they needed in the first inning on a sacrifice by by Matthew Ortiz. Tyler Horner added a two-run home run in the second inning. Box score

The Owls won the second game 3-2. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a home run by Nick Seamons. The Owls took a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Tyler Horner and Julien Jones. The Warriors tied it in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by Jack Sheward. The Owls got the winning run in the top of the eighth on a RBI double by Brodie Marino. The Warriors left the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth and the bottom of the ninth. Lalo Barraza got the win, pitched seven innings, allowed two runs on four hits, struck out five. Recap Box score

The Owls won the third game 8-6. They took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single by Korrey Siracusa, an RBI double by Ian Peters, and Julien Jones scoring on a throwing error. The teams traded runs in the seventh inning, and the Owls added another run in the top of the eighth with an RBI double by Matthew Ortiz. The Warriors then took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the eighth, on an RBI single by Sam Olsson, and a two-RBI single by Noah Weintraub. However, the Owls answered with a home run by Alonso Vergara (transfer from Mission CC) in the top of the ninth, followed by a two-run home run by Tyler Horner for the winning run. The Owls got a good start from Cody Dubray; four innings, one run on five hits, and seven strikeouts, and he pitched out of a bases-loaded jam. Riley Cronin got the win; he pitched the last two innings, allowed one run on five hits. Box score

The Owls came within one out of completing the four-game sweep. The Warriors led 6-3 after six innings, helped by a two-run home run by Jakob Marquez. However, the Owls took an 8-6 lead with five runs in the top of the eighth inning, led by a two-RBI double by Julien Jones. The Warriors made it a one-run game with an RBI single by Nick Seamons in the bottom of the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, the Owls came just short of ending the game with a double play, but with two outs, the next batter walked. Then, Carter Booth hit a three-run home run to end it. Final score: 10-8. Alec Holmes, who pitched the ninth inning, got the win. Recap Box score

This was the first time in 53 years that a visiting team won three straight games at Lewis-Clark State, and this was the first time that Oregon Tech won a series there.

British Columbia swept four games at Eastern Oregon

The Thunderbirds won the first game 19-4, mercy-ruled after seven innings. Jonny McGill went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, three walks, and four runs scored. Sean Heppner got the win, went six innings, allowed two runs (both in the first inning) and struck out four. Box score

The Thunderbirds won the second game 16-4. Mike Fitzsimmons hit a home run and a double, had seven hits and six RBI in the two games. Brett Corbeth added three RBI. Ryan Beitel got the win, pitched seven innings, allowed one run on four hits, struck out five. Recap box score

The Thunderbirds won the third game (moved to Pendleton, OR due to weather) 12-0, mercy-ruled after seven innings. Aaron Marsh (transfer from Cochise CC) went 4-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double, and five RBI. Russell Young added a two-run home run, David Draayers hit a solo home run. Ryan Heppner went the seven-inning distance for the shutout, allowed two hits, struck out 11. Box score

The Thunderbirds completed the sweep with yet another mercy-rule win, 18-3 this time. Aaron Marsh had another big game, 3-for-5 with a three-run home run and five total RBI. The Thunderbirds used four pitchers; Daniel Sereda, who got the win, struck out five of the six batters he faced. Brendan Logan struck out two of the three batters he faced, and Vicarte Domingo struck out all three batters he faced. Recap box score

Bushnell won three of four at Corban

The Beacons won the first game 3-2. All three of their runs came on two home runs by Dylan Carson. Ethan Sachs got the win, pitched 8 1/3 innings, allowed five hits, struck out five. Box score

The Beacons won the second game 4-2. The Warriors had an early 2-0 lead, but the Beacons scored three runs in the top of the sixth when Noah Montoya reached on an error and two unearned runs came in, followed by an RBI single by Cade Crist for the winning run. Jameson Hussey hit an RBI single in the eighth for the insurance run. Jahshua Yacapin got the win, pitched three innings, allowed no runs on one hit, struck out five. Recap Box score

The third and fourth games of the series were postponed until Monday due to weather. Corban won the third game 5-1. The Warriors led all the way, and the Beacons were shut out until the sixth inning. The winning run was walked in in the fourth inning. Brian Landon hit a two-run home run. Bryce Bridge got the win, pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowed one run on six hits, struck out six. Trevor Szczepanek went the rest of the way, allowed one hit, struck out three. Box score

The Beacons won the fourth game 11-2; it wasn’t completed until 9 PM. Jeff Fripp went 4-for-5 with a home run and a three-RBI double. The Warriors were kept off the board until the eighth inning. Adam Sabatino pitched the first five innings, allowed five hits, got the win. Box score

College of Idaho won two at Division III Linfield

The Coyotes won the first game 12-4. They led the entire way, got the winning run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Skyler Sadora. Sadora finished 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBI, and three runs scored. Kirby Robertson got the win, pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed one run on four hits. Recap box score

The Coyotes won the second game 7-6, under not-very-good weather conditions. The Wildcats got an early 5-0 lead in the first inning, mostly from a grand slam home run by Nick Holm. Casey Struckmeier kept the Coyotes off the board until the sixth inning. He was relieved by Jackson Koons, and the Coyotes got their first run on a wild pitch. The Coyotes then took over the game with six runs in the top of the seventh inning. The first two runs came on sacrifice flies by Jake Denison and Tristen Garland. Skyler Sadora then hit a three-RBI double, and Alex McFarland-Smith hit an RBI single for the winning run. The Wildcats got one back in the bottom of the ninth, but pinch-runner Braden Woods was thrown out at the plate (LF Jonah Hultberg to 3B Jake Denison to C Matthew Iwamizu) to end it. Colby Durski pitched a perfect sixth inning and got the win. Recap box score

Here’s a fact: Linfield won the NAIA Baseball National Championship in 1966 and 1971.

    Eastern Oregon’s game at Whitman has been cancelled due to weather.
    Their next scheduled game is at Division II Central Washington on April 11. That one is winnable.
