Montana State Billings @ Chico State (DH)
GAME 1 – Chico State 14, Montana State Billings 2
The Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets (MSUB) were unable to overcome a hot Chico State Wildcats offense, falling 14-2 in a lopsided affair at Nettleton Stadium. Kaden Kirshenbaum was one of the lone bright spots for the Yellowjackets, connecting on his first home run of the season. HIGHLIGHT. MSUB pitching struggled in this one, allowing eight walks and hitting four batters.
GAME 2 – Chico State 3, Montana State Billings 1
More of a pitchers duel in game two, with the Chico State getting just a little more offense. Only four hits for the Yellowjackets in this seven-inning game, with the lone MSUB run coming from Ryan Jeffrey scoring on a wild pitch in the 6th. Starter Jake Finkelstein allowed two unearned runs over four innings before leaving early in the 5th after, what appeared to be, a visit from the trainer. Catcher Nathan May also left this game early after, what appeared to be, a foul ball that bounced up and got him around the mask. Wishing both players well!
Central Washington 4, Cal State San Bernadino 2 (10 inn)
The Wildcats struck first in this one, scoring two in opening frame thanks to a CSUSB error, and Travis Helm RBI single. The game was scoreless until the 7th when CSUSB answered with two runs to tie it. The game went to extras where Central Washington scored twice, with the big play coming off the bat of Ben Leid, connecting on his first home run of the season HIGHLIGHT. CWU starter Alex Brady was impressive in this one for the Wildcats. Brady went 6⅓ innings, allowed 6 hits, 2 runs (0 earned), 0 walks, and 9 strikeouts.
Saint Martin’s @ Hawaii Hilo (DH)
GAME 1 – Hawaii Hilo 8, Saint Martin’s 3
The SMU Saints got out to an early 3-0 lead, thanks to a Dylan McLaughlin 2-run single in the 2nd inning, then a double from Damon Ingram scored Austin Schaler after a throwing error on the play in the third. Hawaii Hilo then held the Saints scoreless the final six innings, allowing just one hit along the way. Ethan Salscheider (Pierce College / Olympic College alum) earned the win for UHH throwing 2 scoreless innings, striking out one.
GAME 2 – Hawaii Hilo 4, Saint Martin’s 1
Hunter Sasaki, Peter Hollabaugh, and Kelton Tom each registered hits with Sasaki responsible for scoring the Saints only run. Blaze Wong got the start for the Saints and was cruising along until UHH got to him in the 5th with the Vulcans posting four runs in the inning, three charged to Wong.
