Lewis-Clark State and College of Idaho split their series, as did Western Oregon and Oregon Tech, and Eastern Oregon and Corban.
Lewis-Clark State 11, College of Idaho 2. A big offensive day for Brandon Cabrera, Jack Sheward, and some others, but the big story here is Warrior starter Hiroyuki Yamada (from Nagoya, Japan, transfer from Mt. Hood CC), who got his first start, went six innings, allowed only two hits, no earned runs, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out eight. He gave up both of the Coyotes’ runs in the first inning, and the two relievers, Brady Maylett and Zachary Ediger, held the Coyotes scoreless the rest of the way.
The Warriors got one run in each of the first four innings, starting with a home run by Cabrera, followed by an RBI single for Ike George. They put it away with five runs in the top of the sixth. It started with Carter Booth scoring on an error after a single by George. Pu’ukani De Sa hit a sacrifice fly, Dominic Signorelli was hit by a pitch to score a run, then Sheward hit a two-RBI double. Signorelli added a home run in the eighth inning.
Cabrera finished 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and two RBI. Sheward went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Jacob Lewis got the loss. The series was split two games apiece. recap
