Lewis-Clark State completed the series sweep of British Columbia, Oregon Tech and Bushnell swept double-headers against Eastern Oregon and College of Idaho, respectively.

Lewis-Clark State 7, British Columbia 6. The Warriors scored six of their seven runs in the second inning, on a two-run home run by Jake Gish, and a grand slam home run by Carter Booth. The Thunderbirds had an early lead; Trent Lenihan hit a two-run home run in the first inning, and Russell Young and Lenihan hit RBI singles in the second inning, chasing Warrior starter Hiroyuki Yamada. Thunderbird starter Daniel Orfaly didn’t make it through the second inning, either. He was relieved by Vicarte Domingo, who gave up a home run by Bulla Ephan in the third inning. He pitched the fourth inning, and was relieved by Will Anderson, who didn’t allow a hit. Tyson Kilbreath pitched a hitless eighth inning. The Thunderbirds got a run in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Kyle Yip, and made it a one-run game on an RBI single by Lenihan in the eighth inning, but couldn’t get any closer.

Booth also hit a double. Lenihan and Yip both finished 3-for-5, and Lenihan had four RBI. Dallas McGill, who relieved Yamada, got the win. Orfaly got the loss. The Warriors swept the four-game series. Recap

First game: Oregon Tech 10, Eastern Oregon 1. This double-header was played in Pendleton, OR due to weather conditions in La Grande, and Oregon Tech was the home team. The Hustlin’ Owls got all the runs they needed with a two-RBI double by Korrey Siracusa in the second inning. The Mountaineers got their run in the sixth inning when Joey Freitas was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. At that point, the Mountaineers trailed by only 2-1, but the Owls put it away with a grand slam home run by Julien Jones in the seventh inning. Matthew Ortiz added a two-run home run in the eighth inning.

Patrick Arman, Tim Williams, and Drake Aboud combined for a one-hitter. Arman pitched the first six innings, allowed the only hit, struck out nine. Williams pitched two innings, struck out two, and Aboud pitched one inning. Patrick Barry finished 2-for-2 for the Owls.

Second game: Oregon Tech 8, Eastern Oregon 1. This one was close for three innings, with the Mountaineers scoring a run in the top of the third with an RBI single by Joey Freitas, and the Owls answering with a sacrifice fly by Matthew Ortiz. The Owls got the winning run in the bottom of the fourth with a home run by Kyle Norton, then added a two-RBI double by Patrick Barry. Ty Blakely hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning, and Barry completed the scoring with a home run. Bronson Chapple got the win, pitched six innings, allowed one run on four hits, struck out nine. Ryan Poling pitched the remaining three innings, didn’t allow a hit, struck out five of the ten batters he faced. Barry finished 3-for-4 with three RBI. Will Seslar got the loss.

First game: Bushnell 11, College of Idaho 2. Both games were shortened to seven innings due to a late start because of the weather. The Beacons started off with an RBI single by Albert Jennings and a run walked in in the first inning, and got the winning run in the third inning with an RBI single by Chase Nye. They continued to pull away with two more runs in the third inning, two runs in the fourth inning (RBI single by Jennings, sacrifice fly by Nye), and four runs in the fifth inning (RBI single by Kyle Casperson, two-RBI double by Jordan Wilson, RBI single by Isaiah Hart). Starter Kai Keamo got the win, pitched five innings, allowed one run on two hits, struck out four. Nye finished 2-for-2 with two RBI. Hart finished 3-for-3 with an RBI. Nate Vidlak got the loss.

Second game: Bushnell 4, College of Idaho 0. Four pitchers, Daniel Furman, Austin Wolfe, Colby Knutzen, and Ethan Paulson, combined for the shutout. Furman pitched three innings, allowed one hit, struck out three. Paulson pitched the final inning, allowed two hits, struck out two. The Beacons got two runs in the top of the first on an RBI triple by Jordan Wilson and a single by Albert Jennings that scored Wilson. The other two runs came on a sacrifice fly by Wilson in the fifth inning, with an additional run scoring on a throwing error. Caleb Richter got two of the Beacons’ eight hits, but didn’t figure in the scoring. Dawson Cummings got the loss; he allowed only one earned run on eight hits, struck out seven. The Beacons won the series three games to one.
