British Columbia and Oregon Tech split, Lewis-Clark State and Corban split, and Bushnell swept Eastern Oregon.
Bronson Chapple
First game: British Columbia 13, Oregon Tech 3. The Thunderbirds took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning with an RBI single by Aaron Marsh and an RBI on a ground out by Mitchell Middlemiss. The winning run came in the sixth inning when Kaden Zarowny reached on an error, and David Draayers scored. The Thunderbirds added three more runs in that inning on a two-RBI single by Jonny McGill and an RBI single by Middlemiss, and led 7-1. Then Marsh hit a grand slam home run in the seventh inning.
Sean Heppner started, pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed one earned run on four hits, struck out nine. Will Anderson went the rest of the way, allowed one run on four hits, struck out three. Patrick Arman started for the Hustlin’ Owls, allowed four earned runs on seven hits, struck out six, got the loss. Marsh went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, and five RBI. McGill finished 4-for-6 with a double and three RBI. Tyler Horner finished 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Second game: Oregon Tech 5, British Columbia 1. Another good start for Bronson Chapple of the Hustlin’ Owls. He pitched seven shutout innings, allowed five hits, struck out seven, got his fifth consecutive win. The Owls got all the runs they needed in the first inning, on an RBI single by Tyler Horner (unearned), a sacrifice fly by Julien Jones, and an RBI triple by Ka’ala Tam. They scored two more runs in the seventh on a home run by Horner.
The Thunderbirds out-hit the Owls 9-7. Ryan Heppner started, pitched five innings, allowed two earned runs on six hits, struck out three, got the loss. Horner finished 3-for-4 with three RBI. Aaron Marsh finished 2-for-4 with a double for the Thunderbirds, scored the Thunderbirds’ only run. recap

First game: Corban 9, Lewis-Clark State 8. Corban (both teams are nicknamed Warriors) got three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning; pinch-hitter Lucas Mertlich hit an RBI double, Joshua Miyazama got an RBI on a sacrifice bunt, and Brad Pellkofer hit an RBI single to win it. After Pu’ukani De Sa drew a walk to open the top of the ninth inning, Corban brought in Nathan Findley to pitch. He got a ground out, which advanced De Sa to second base. Findley then got a line out and a fly out to preserve the win.
Corban took a 3-2 lead after the second inning without a single hit. L-C State took an 8-5 lead after the fifth inning. After that, L-C State was completely shut down by San Greenhalgh and Findley. Greenhalgh pitched 3 1/3 hitless innings, struck out two, walked four, got the win. Jace Hanson, who pitched part of the sixth inning and all of the seventh, and was charged with the three runs (two of them unearned) in the eighth, got the loss. Nainoa Ka’ahanui finished 2-for-4 with an RBI for Corban. De Sa finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for L-C State, and Carter Booth hit a home run.
Second game: Lewis-Clark State 14, Corban 8. This game was tied 3-3 after three innings. Corban had the early lead; they scored a run on a dropped third strike, another on an RBI single by Ryan Clay, and another on a passed ball. L-C State got three runs when a bases-loaded popup got lost in the sun. L-C State went ahead for good with four runs in the top of the fourth, with an RBI single by Nick Seamons, a two-RBI single by Charlie Updegrave, and a run scored with a hit batter. They added three runs in the sixth, one run in the seventh, and three runs in the ninth. Corban made the final score closer by scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth. Jadon Williamson got the win, and Hayden Van Acker got the loss. Carter Booth went 3-for-4 with a double for L-C State. Clay went 3-for-3 with two RBI and drew two walks for Corban. L-C State won the series three games to one.
First game: Bushnell 15, Eastern Oregon 13. The Mountaineers led this game 13-11 after seven innings, after scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh, with one run scored on a bases-loaded hit batter and a grand slam home run by Parker Cumberland. However, the Beacons tied it in the top of the eighth with a two-RBI single by Nate Stevens, then won it in the top of the ninth with a two-run home run by Cade Crist. Kyle Casperson finished 5-for-6 with a home run and four RBI for the Beacons. Cumberland finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and five RBI. Colby Knutzen, who pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, allowed one run on one hit, and struck out three, got the win. Callan Vreim got the loss.
Second game: Bushnell 17, Eastern Oregon 11. The Beacons put this away with five runs in the fifth inning, led by a two-run home run by Albert Jennings. Jennings hit another home run in the sixth inning. He also hit a double, and was 4-for-5 with three RBI and four runs scored for the game. Jordan Wilson also hit a home run. Parker Cumberland and Trevor Baker hit home runs for the Mountaineers. Beacon Starter Adam Sabatino got the win; he pitched six innings, allowed one run on four hits, struck out six.
