NWAC players of the week for march 3rd through 9th
The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Baseball Players of the Week were announced last week for March 3rd through the 9th. Clackamas Community College’s Bryson Glassco earned recognition for his remarkable offensive output that included a cycle. Big Bend Community College’s Garin Gurtler received honors for his masterful complete game pitching performance.

NWAC Hitter of the Week

INF Bryson Glassco, Clackamas CC

Uncommitted sophomore infielder Bryson Glassco delivered an exceptional performance last week. He went 12-for-17 (.632) with three doubles, one triple, one home run, 11 RBI, and five runs scored across four games. The Spanish Springs High School (Sparks, NV) product split his week between games at Umpqua and at home against Chemeketa. Glassco’s standout moment came in the second game against Chemeketa. He achieved the rare feat of hitting for the CYCLE while going a perfect 4-for-4. In that game, he drove in six RBI and scored four times. Glassco is slashing .633/.667/.967 with 5 2B, 3B, HR, and 12 RBI in 8 games this season.

NWAC Pitcher of the Week

RHP Garin Gurtler, Big Bend CC

Uncommitted sophomore right-handed pitcher Garin Gurtler dominated in the Vikings’ victory over Walla Walla CC on March 7th. The East Valley High School (Yakima, WA) product threw a complete game four-hitter where he allowed just one unearned run with no walks while recording six strikeouts. Following this impressive performance, Gurtler improved to 2-0 on the season. His outstanding statistics include a 0.78 ERA, 0.65 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts across 23 innings pitched.
Both Players of the Week remain uncommitted. This presents outstanding opportunities for four-year programs looking to bolster their rosters. The NWAC has long served as a developmental pathway for talented baseball players. Many NWAC athletes move on to NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA programs after successful junior college careers.
