British Columbia defeated College of Idaho, and Corban swept a double-header against Bushnell.
British Columbia 3, College of Idaho 2 at Vancouver, BC. The Thunderbirds managed only two hits off Coyote starter Nate Vidlak, but one of them was a solo home run by Mitchell Middlemiss in the bottom of the second inning. Vidlak walked the next batter, Kyle Yip. Yip moved to second when the next batter walked, then went to third when Russell Young reached on a fielder’s choice. Yip then stole home when Young stole second, and the Thunderbirds led 2-0.
The Coyotes got on the board in the top of the fourth inning when Cannon Morgan hit an RBI double, and tied it in the top of the seventh with an RBI double by Caden Casagrande. Vidlak was relieved in the bottom of the eighth by Zaylor Bruegeman. He didn’t allow a hit, but he walked the first batter he faced, Kaden Zarowny. He stole second, then reached third when the next batter, Jonny McGill, reached on an error. That set up the game-winning sacrifice fly by Trent Lenihan.
James Brock relieved Thunderbird starter Will Anderson in the eighth inning, and he was, once again, lights out. He faced the minimum six batters, and struck out three of them, and got the win. Anderson pitched seven innings, allowed one earned run on seven hits, struck out four, walked one. Bruegeman got the loss. Trevor Watkins had two hits for the Coyotes. box score
