The Big Ten Conference announced its baseball weekly honors on Tuesday, with Washington’s Jackson Hotchkiss being named Freshman of the Week after an impressive performance that helped the Huskies to a perfect 4-0 record.

Hotchkiss Powers Washington’s Perfect Week

Jackson Hotchkiss, a freshman outfielder from Battle Ground, Washington, earned his first career Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor after playing a crucial role in Washington’s undefeated week. The Huskies knocked off St. Johns on Tuesday before completing their first Big Ten series sweep against Purdue over the weekend.

Hotchkiss displayed impressive power and consistency at the plate, batting .357 (5-for-14) with two home runs and four RBI across the four games. Furthermore, he demonstrated excellent plate discipline, recording a .471 on-base percentage while slugging an outstanding .857 for the week.

The Battle Ground High School product was a dynamic presence throughout the lineup, accumulating 12 total bases while showcasing his speed with four stolen bases. Additionally, Hotchkiss crossed home plate five times against the Red Storm and Boilermakers, helping fuel the Washington offense.

This recognition marks not only Hotchkiss’s first conference weekly award but also represents a milestone for the Washington program. Hotchkiss becomes the first Husky to receive Big Ten baseball Freshman of the Week accolades since Washington joined the conference this season.
