Hitter of the Week: Bryan Rojas

Northwest Nazarene senior Bryan Rojas recorded a .500 batting average (9-for-18) with two doubles, two home runs, nine RBIs, five runs scored and two stolen bases during the 16th-ranked Nighthawks’ series sweep of Central Washington.

In the series opener, Rojas connected for two doubles and drove in five runs to set the tone for the weekend. The Provo, Utah native followed with his most productive game in the series finale, posting a three-hit performance that included two home runs and three RBIs. His power surge helped the nationally-ranked Nighthawks complete the sweep of their conference rivals.

Rojas, who transferred from Lane Community College last season, displayed his all-around offensive capabilities throughout the series. The senior was perfect in stolen base attempts, going 2-for-2 during the three-game set. His consistent performance at the plate proved instrumental in Northwest Nazarene’s continued success in conference play.

The senior’s offensive output helped #16 Northwest Nazarene maintain its position as one of the nation’s top teams while extending their winning streak to nine against the Wildcats.

Pitcher of the Week: Jonathan Garza II

Central Washington senior Jonathan Garza II delivered a quality start against #16 Northwest Nazarene in game two of the series, working six innings while allowing just five hits and one unearned run. The Othello, Washington product struck out eight batters and issued only one walk in his appearance.

Garza II left the game with a 4-1 lead but received a no-decision after the Nighthawks mounted a late-inning comeback. His performance demonstrated exceptional control and effectiveness against one of the nation’s top teams.

The right-hander’s eight strikeouts marked his highest totals of the season, showcasing his ability to generate swings and misses against quality competition. Throughout his six innings of work, Garza II consistently kept Northwest Nazarene’s potent lineup off balance despite facing several of the conference’s top hitters.

The Othello High School graduate’s performance stands as one of the most effective pitching outings against the nationally-ranked Nighthawks this season, even though the Wildcats ultimately couldn’t secure the victory.
