Lewis-Clark State defeated British Columbia, Bushnell defeated Oregon Tech in a game that was suspended on Friday, Corban swept Warner Pacific, and College of Idaho swept Eastern Oregon.
Lewis-Clark State
15, British Columbia 7 at
Lewiston, OR. Russell Young
had a big day for the Thunderbirds, with home runs in the first and
third innings. However, Charlie Updegrave and Jack Sheward had bigger
days for the Warriors. Updegrave hit a two-run home run in the third
inning to tie the game 2-2. Sheward hit an RBI single in the fourth
inning, then Updegrave hit a three-run home run to put the Warriors
up 8-2. In the fifth inning, Sheward hit a bases-loaded double to
make the score 11-2 and out of reach for the Thunderbirds. Jonny
McGill hit a two-RBI double in the top of the seventh, but Dominic
Signorelli matched it with a two-RBI single in the bottom of the
eighth. Sheward got an RBI single in the eighth to give the Warriors
an 15-5 lead going into the ninth.
Ryan
Heppner got his first loss of the season. He was chased in the fourth
inning after giving up eight runs on five hits. The Warriors scored
three runs on Oliver Duthie, and four runs on Dylan Myttenar. Warrior
starter Jantzen Lucas got the win. He pitched six innings, allowed
four runs on five hits, struck out five. Jake Green went the rest of
the way, allowed two earned runs on four hits.
Sheward
and Updegrave both had five RBI. Sheward finished 3-for-6, and
Updegrave finished 2-for-5. Young went 3-for-5 with the two home runs

Lewis-Clark
State and British Columbia are now tied for first place in the
conference. Sunday’s game will decide the regular season
championship and the host for the conference tournament.
Bushnell 14,
Oregon Tech 12 at Klamath
Falls, OR. This game started on Friday. It was suspended by rain in
the top of the seventh inning with the score tied 10-10. It didn’t
resume until 3:45 PM on Saturday. The Hustlin’ Owls took a 12-10
lead in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI single by Ka’ala Tam
and a sacrifice fly by Keanu Mizuta. However, the Beacons came up
with four runs in the top of the ninth to win it and split the Friday
double-header. The rally started with a pinch-hit RBI single by
Jameson Hussey. Albert Jennings sent home the tying run by reaching
on a fielder’s choice. Then Will Hudler hit an RBI single to score
the winning run. The Beacons got an insurance run on a hit batter.
With two out in the bottom of the ninth, Tyler Horner hit a long fly
ball that didn’t quite make it over the fence, and instead was the
final out of a game that took 26 hours to play.
Both
teams had 14 hits. The Owls used five pitchers, the Beacons four.
Ethan Sachs, who took the mound after the suspension, got the win. He
pitched three innings, allowed two runs on five hits, struck out two.
Kaden Melzer threw one pitch for the Owls prior to the suspension. He
got the loss; he pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowed four runs on six
hits, struck out three. Albert Jennings finished 3-for-5 with three
RBI and two runs scored for the Beacons. Patrick Barry finished
4-for-5 for the Owls with a triple, two doubles, and four runs

Corban 6, Warner
Pacific 3 at Aurora, OR. This
game was tied 3-3 going into the ninth, and the Chase Elliott hit a
two-RBI double to win it. An insurance run was walked in.
Chris
Shaffer pitched eight innings for the Warriors, got the win. He
allowed three runs on four hits, struck out ten,
threw 127 pitches. Tanner Martinez got the first two outs of the
bottom of the ninth, and was relieved by Peyton Rickard with runners
on first and second. Rickard walked the first batter he faced to load
the bases, but he then got a ground out to end the game. He was
awarded a save.
Trenten
Lowe hit a home run for the Knights in the second inning. Mitchell
Thoma-Britt hit an RBI single in the bottom of the third to give the
Knights a 3-2 lead. Ryan Clay hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning
to tie the game 3-3, and it stayed that way until the ninth inning.
Nathaniel Gutierrez, Isaac Bateman, and Noah Owens each had two hits
for the Warriors. Mason Deverna pitched the first six innings for the
Knights; he allowed two earned runs on five hits, struck out six, but
walked seven, and hit two batters. He threw 109 pitches. Kaden

Corban 9, Warner
Pacific 5. The Knights had an
early lead, by the Warriors got the winning run in the top of the
fourth on a solo home run by Ryan Clay, after Fran Gross hit a
two-run home run. They led 6-4 at that point, and added single runs
in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
Josephan
Gonzalez (transfer from Whitworth) got the win. He pitched five
innings, allowed four runs on two hits, struck out six, walked seven,
and threw 100 pitches. Three relievers held the Knights to a total of
two hits. Connor Hale got the loss. Jeremiah Pinkerton finished
3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored for the Warriors. Gross and
Clay both finished 2-for-4, and they both hit a double in addition to
the home run. Trenten Lowe had two of the Knights’ four hits. box

College of Idaho
3, Eastern Oregon 1 at
Caldwell, ID. The Coyotes scored all three of their runs in the
bottom of the fifth inning, with a two-RBI triple by Ben Gaff and an
RBI on a ground out by Connor Olsen. The Mountaineers’ only run of
the game didn’t come until the top of the seventh inning, on an RBI
single by Danny Burns.
The
Coyotes had five hits, the Mountaineers three. Oliver Massie pitched
7 2/3 innings for the Coyotes, allowed the run and all three hits,
struck out seven. Zaylor Bruegeman held the Mountaineers hitless for
the remaining 1 1/3 innings. Mountaineer starter Shane Sinclair got
the loss; he pitched six innings,allowed one earned run on five hits,
struck out three, walked three, and hit a batter. Gaff also hit a
double. Tyler Balkenbush had two of the Mountaineers’ three hits.

College of Idaho
9, Eastern Oregon 4. The
Mountaineers had an early lead on a home run by Matthew Carlson, but
the Coyotes got three runs in the bottom of the fourth on RBI singles
by Chandler Stocking and Trevor Watkins, and James Hull getting an
RBI by reaching on a fielder’s choice. The winning run came in the
next inning, when Connor Olsen got the RBI by reaching on an error.
The Coyotes got three more runs in that inning on an RBI single by
Jack Ingraham and a two-RBI single by Watkins.
Coyote
starter Nate Vidlak got the win; he pitched six innings, allowed one
earned run on five hits, struck out six. Mountaineer starter Will
Seslar got the loss. Four of the Coyotes’ runs were unearned.
Cannon Morgan hit a home run for the Coyotes in the second inning.
Ben Gaff, Ingraham, and Watkins each had two hits. box
