Jeremiah Robbins, who was the Head Coach at Lewis-Clark State from 2013 to 2018, has been hired as the new coach to replace the departed Jake Taylor.
Robbins’ head coaching career began at Southeastern Oregon CC in 2000. He coached Douglas High School in Winston, OR in 2003 and 2004. He was the Head Coach at Division II Western Oregon from 2006 to 2012. The Wolves won every Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship during that time, and compiled a record of 252-109. Robbins was named the conference coach of the year for all seven years.
He was hired away by Lewis-Clark State in 2013, and coached there until 2017. The Warriors won three NAIA national championships had a record of 256-63 during that time. He was named the ABCA National Coach of the Year in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
In 2018, a head coach job opened up at Umpqua CC in Roseburg, OR, near his hometown of Winston. It was a new baseball program, and Robbins could not resist the challenge of not only returning to his home area, but building a program from the ground up. In four seasons there, he had a record of 114-70.
He spent the past year as the Athletic Director at Douglas High School. However, he missed coaching, and communicated this sentiment to Lewis-Clark State management.
Taylor was unpopular with Lewis-Clark State’s players, and this was reflected in uninspired performances on the field, particularly in the season-ending Opening Round tournament in Lewiston. The hiring of Robbins was announced four days after the firing of Taylor.
In taking the job, Robbins said, "We’re gonna be tough, we’re gonna be relentless, we’re gonna be great student-athletes and we’re gonna be part of the community and we’re gonna give them something to cheer about. We did that in my time here and Ed (Cheff) did it for 34 years. We need to continue … that legacy and that’s my job and I don’t take that piece lightly."
