Mark Wasikowski has his Ducks in a row for 2027.
Oregon announced several changes to its baseball staff Tuesday as the program begins looking ahead to next season.
The biggest change comes on offense. Brett Thomas will take over as Oregon’s hitting coach while continuing to work with the outfield.
Thomas is no stranger to the program. He played for the Ducks and has been on Wasikowski’s staff since his first season as Oregon’s head coach.
Familiar Ducks Take on Bigger Roles
Tim Susnara will also see his role expand.
Susnara will remain Oregon’s director of player development and analytics while adding assistant coaching duties. He will work with the Ducks’ catchers and hitters.
Like Thomas, Susnara is a former Oregon player.
Head strength coach Darrell Hunter also played for the Ducks. Hunter has been around the program for much of Oregon baseball’s modern era and was the first recruit to sign when the program returned in 2009.
That gives Oregon a strong group of former Ducks working inside the program.
Experience Around the Staff
Matt Florer will return as Oregon’s pitching coach.
Ryan Fineman, who joined the Ducks in July, will serve as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. He will also work with the catchers.
Fineman came to Eugene after two seasons at Troy, where he held a similar recruiting role and helped the Trojans reach the 2026 College World Series.
Oregon also has plenty of professional experience on staff.
Former Major Leaguers Travis Buck and Dan Straily will both have assistant coaching duties in addition to their current roles. Buck remains the director of baseball operations, while Straily continues as the director of pitching development.
Wasikowski also named 2026 Oregon graduate Dominic Graziano as the program’s director of camps.
For the Ducks, the changes are less about starting over and more about reshuffling responsibilities.
Oregon keeps a familiar group in place while giving several staff members larger roles heading into 2027.
