Bushnell swept a double-header vs. Corban, British Columbia defeated College of Idaho, and Lewis-Clark State vs. #2-ranked LSU-Shreveport was suspended.
At Springfield, OR. First game: Bushnell 4, Corban 1. The Warriors out-hit the Beacons 12-9, but managed only one run, on an RBI double by Nainoa Ka’ahanui in the fifth inning. All four of the Beacons’ runs came from long balls. Two of them were by Cade Crist, a two-run home run in the fourth inning and a solo home run in the sixth inning. The other run came from a solo home run by Albert Jennings in the seventh inning.
Daniel Furman got the start for the Beacons, pitched 4 2/3 innings, allowed eight hits and the only Warrior run. Trevor Hammond pitched 2 2/3 innings, allowed four hits, got the win. Alec Gums pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, didn’t allow a hit, struck out two, got a save. Warrior starter Avery Williams got the loss; he allowed three runs on seven hits. Joshua Miyazawa finished 4-for-4 with a double for the Warriors.
Second game: Bushnell 11, Corban 5. The Warriors scored four runs in the top of the first inning. The Beacons got two runs in the bottom of the second, then took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the third, on an RBI double by Kyle Kasperson and a two-RBI single by Noah Montoya. Reece Carganilla scored the winning run in the fourth by coming home on a failed pickoff attempt. Jordan Wilson hit a home run later in that inning, and the Beacons led 8-4. Ryan Clay hit a home run for the Warriors in the top of the sixth. The Beacons scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and one more in the eighth. Beacons starter Taiga Yamane didn’t get out of the first inning. He was relieved by Austin Wolfe, who pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed one run on three hits, struck out eight, got the win. Warrior starter Aidan Bray got the loss. Chase Nye finished 4-for-5 with an RBI for the Beacons. Brad Pellkofer and Nainoa Ka’ahanui both finished 2-for-4 for the Warriors; Pellkofer hit a double, and Ka’ahanui had an RBI. recap

At Caldwell, ID. British Columbia 12, College of Idaho 7. The Thunderbirds started the scoring in the top of the first with Trent Lenihan reaching on a fielder’s choice for an RBI, an RBI single by Mitchell Middlemiss, and an RBI double by Russell Young. The Coyotes answered with a two-run home run by Jordan Kelly, a sacrifice fly by Dillon Danner, and an RBI single by Darren Smith. Aaron Marsh tied it 4-4 with an RBI single in the top of the second, and the Thunderbirds took the lead for good with an RBI single by Lenihan. The winning run came in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by Kaden Zarowny. Kris Kirkpatrick hit a home run in the bottom of the fifth, followed by an RBI single by Smith. Brayden Macy scored when Smith was caught stealing. That made the score 10-7, and that was as close as the Coyotes got.
Sean Heppner started and got the win. He gave up seven runs on only five hits, and walked four, but he still managed to record eight strikeouts. He was relieved in the fifth inning by James Brock, and Brock allowed no runs on three hits, and struck out six. Coyote starter Nick Eliason gave up six runs (five of them earned), and got the loss. Middlemiss finished 4-for-5 with two RBI. Zarowny stole two bases. Kelly finished 2-for-5 with a home run, a double, and two RBI. recap

At Lewiston, ID. The game between Lewis-Clark State and #2-ranked LSU-Shreveport was suspended by rain with the game scoreless in the seventh inning. Both starters, Drake George for the Warriors and Isaac Rohde for the Pilots, were still in the game. George had 8 strikeouts. The game will be completed prior to the scheduled game on Sunday.
