NWAC: Kreisberg, Mattix Take Weekly Honors

The Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) announced their baseball weekly awards, recognizing Chemeketa Community College’s Lance Kreisberg as Hitter of the Week and Everett Community College’s Adison Mattix as Pitcher of the Week. Interestingly, both standouts hail from Tigard, OR, and are Tigard High School alumni.

Kreisberg Leads Storm Offense

Freshman designated hitter Lance Kreisberg, a Tigard High School graduate, went 5-for-12 (.417 batting average) with three home runs, three RBI, three walks, four runs scored and one stolen base during the week. His performance helped Chemeketa post a 3-1 record in games he played, two against SW Oregon CC and two versus Umpqua CC.

Through 24 games this season, Kreisberg holds a .257 batting average with a .527 slugging percentage, which ranks ninth in the NWAC. He has accumulated two doubles, three triples (second in NWAC), and four home runs (second in NWAC).

The Tigard, OR native has been a consistent contributor to the Storm’s offensive production this season.

Mattix Delivers Two Strong Starts

Redshirt sophomore Adison Mattix, also from Tigard, OR and a Tigard High School product, made two starts for Everett Community College during the week. In his first outing against Douglas, Mattix pitched four innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out seven batters in a 10-3 Trojan victory.

In his second start, Mattix threw eight shutout innings against Shoreline, surrendering just three singles and one walk while recording nine strikeouts in Everett’s 8-0 win.

For the week, the Tigard High School graduate totaled 12 innings pitched, allowing five hits (all singles), two earned runs, four walks, and 16 strikeouts.

On the season, Mattix has compiled a 4-0 record with a 1.45 ERA and 0.81 WHIP. He has recorded 42 strikeouts over 31 innings pitched.

Both Players of the Week remain uncommitted. This presents outstanding opportunities for four-year programs looking to bolster their rosters. The NWAC has long served as a developmental pathway for talented baseball players. Many NWAC athletes move on to NCAA Division I, II, and NAIA programs after successful junior college careers.
