PNW Summer Collegiate Recap – July 7

A high-volume offensive night in the PNW on July 7 saw teams combine for 102 runs across nine West Coast League games and two Pacific International League contests. Beau Musser went 4-for-6 with a triple and four RBI for Nanaimo, while Ky McGary and Tyler Jones each drove in five runs during Wenatchee’s 20-run outburst. Chase Gordon threw six strong innings for Kelowna, and Victoria exploded for 18 runs behind three home runs.

West Coast League

Nanaimo NightOwls 12, Edmonton Riverhawks 4

Beau Musser went 4-for-6 with a triple, four RBI, and three runs to lead Nanaimo’s attack. Ethan Reynolds added three doubles and four RBI, while Aiden Nykoluk went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. Frankie Flores Jr. earned the win with five innings of work. Shiryu Sato collected three hits for Edmonton in the loss.

Wenatchee AppleSox 20, Port Angeles Lefties 1

Wenatchee exploded for 20 runs, led by Ky McGary’s grand slam and five RBI and Tyler Jones’ three-run homer and five RBI. Landon White went 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and three walks. Levi Grothen threw three scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. Carter Enoch had two hits for Port Angeles.

Marion Berries 4, DubSea FishSticks 3

Marion rallied late to pull out a 4-3 win. Joseph Moreno earned the win with two innings of relief. Jake Allen delivered a key RBI double in the eighth inning, and Damian Catano added two hits. Peyton Barsotti hit a two-run homer for DubSea.

Kelowna Falcons 11, Kamloops NorthPaws 1

Chase Gordon dominated with six innings of two-hit ball and four strikeouts to earn the win. Rees Kozar drove in five runs, Ashton Graff-Rowe added three RBI and three runs, and Nolan Eberwein collected two doubles. Kamloops managed just three hits and scored their only run on a groundout.

Victoria HarbourCats 18, Bend Elks 5

Victoria broke the game open with an eight-run sixth inning and added five more in the seventh. David Krahn homered and drove in four runs, while Rohne Klein and Matthew Westley also went deep with three RBI each. Tristan Buehring collected four hits and three RBI. Dmitri Susidko went 4-for-5 with a homer and three RBI for Bend in the loss.

Yakima Valley Pippins 10, Ridgefield Raptors 4

Eric Anthony earned the win with six innings of work, allowing just one earned run. Malikhi Emery-Henderson hit a three-run homer and finished with four RBI. Alexander Mendoza, Jr. added three hits. Carson Luna homered for Ridgefield in the loss.

Walla Walla Sweets 6, Springfield Drifters 3

Curtis Ellis threw six innings of two-hit shutout ball to earn the win. Trevor Tse went 3-for-5 with a triple, double, RBI, and two runs, while Payton Knowles added three hits. Springfield scored three runs in the final two innings but couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Bellingham Bells 5, Northwest Star Nighthawks 1

Bellingham pulled away with a three-run fifth inning. Aspen Alexander went 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI. Cole Anderson threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Liam Kliever hit a solo homer for Northwest Star.

Corvallis Knights 13, Portland Pickles 3

Corvallis used a five-run fifth inning to take control. Ryan Severns went 3-for-6 with a homer, double, two RBI, and three runs. Jackson Fera homered, and Arlo Pendleton threw four scoreless innings of relief to earn the win.

Pacific International League

Seattle Blackfins 6, Dudes 5 (10 innings) from 7/6

Seattle Blackfins walked it off in the 10th inning. River Smith tripled and drove in two runs, while Jake Andrew collected two hits and two RBI. Bo Mager delivered the game-winning single. Brayden Larson earned the win with four innings of relief. Ethan Keene went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and #30 hit a solo homer for Dudes.

Everett Merchants 4, Northwest Honkers 2

Everett scored all four of its runs in the third inning to take the lead for good. Luca Rujanacic doubled in a run, while Blake Skinner and TJ Armstrong also drove in runs. Andrew Hernandez earned the win with 4⅔ innings. Alex Chamberlin and Franzel each had an RBI for Northwest Honkers.
