PNW Summer Collegiate Recap – July 4

A star-studded Independence Day slate across the West Coast League and Pacific International League delivered fireworks on the diamond July 4. From Ethan Porter’s monstrous seven-RBI explosion to Luke Parker’s four-RBI masterclass and multiple multi-homer games, the day was filled with offensive outbursts, dominant pitching performances, and walk-off drama. Here’s a full recap of all the action.

West Coast League

Portland Pickles 6, Marion Berries 3

Grafton Stroup went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI to lead the Pickles to a 6-3 win over the Marion Berries. Brendan Burke added a triple and an RBI, while Elijah McNeal scored twice and stole two bases. Rafael Espinoza earned the win (5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 6 K) and Ryan Higgins picked up the save (4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 4 K). Sawyer Nelson provided Marion’s biggest spark with a two-run homer and two RBI.

Port Angeles Lefties 12, Kamloops NorthPaws 5

Tommy Markey went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double, and Garrett Patterson added three hits and two RBI in a two-way effort as the Lefties rolled past the Kamloops NorthPaws 12-5. Caden Young and Carter Enoch each drove in two runs. Wes Lynch earned the win in relief (2 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 3 K). Kade Crawford paced Kamloops with two hits and two RBI.

Bellingham Bells 11, Nanaimo NightOwls 4

Rashad Hayes blasted a three-run homer and finished with three RBI, while Bryce Johnson went 2-for-4 with two RBI to power the Bells to an 11-4 victory over the Nanaimo NightOwls. Parker Warner earned the win (5 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 7 K) and David Wiser struck out six in three shutout innings. Ethan Reynolds led Nanaimo with two doubles and two RBI.

Walla Walla Sweets 10, Ridgefield Raptors 7

Sam Kane went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI, and Jaylen Kennedy delivered a three-run inside-the-park homer as the Sweets took a 10-7 win over the Ridgefield Raptors. Ronan Scoffield added two RBI. Carson Luna homered and drove in two for Ridgefield, and Michael Perazzo went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Bend Elks 13, Yakima Valley Pippins 1

Jace Miller went 2-for-4 with two RBI, Isaac Pfeifer drove in two, and Eli Pupo added two RBI in the Elks’ 13-1 rout of the Yakima Valley Pippins. Chris Peronace earned the win with three perfect relief innings (3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 2 K). Daichi Furuhata recorded Yakima’s lone extra-base hit with a double.

Corvallis Knights 16, Springfield Drifters 5

Ethan Porter exploded for 4-for-4, two doubles and seven RBI to lead the Knights to a 16-5 blowout over the Springfield Drifters. Max Medina added a homer and two RBI, and Ryan Severns went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Neal Burtis earned the win (3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 K). Preston Armstrong went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Zach Story added an RBI single for Springfield.

Wenatchee AppleSox 10, Edmonton Riverhawks 1

Zach Doyle went 4-for-5 with an RBI, Colin Beazizo drove in three runs, and Ky McGary added two RBI as the AppleSox cruised to a 10-1 win over the Edmonton Riverhawks. Nicho Crowley-Koehler earned the win in relief (3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 7 K). Matt Vanslyke drove in Edmonton’s lone run with a second-inning single.

Kelowna Falcons 3, Victoria HarbourCats 2

Rees Kozar went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI to help the Falcons edge the Victoria HarbourCats 3-2. Justin Tucker added an RBI sacrifice fly. Seth Sumner earned the win (6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 4 K) and Aiden Ennis struck out five in two perfect innings. Logan Shepard drove in a run with a single for Victoria.

Pacific International League

DubSea Fish Sticks 13, Washington A’s Premier 18U 3

Luke Parker went 2-for-3 with four RBI (including a three-run double) to lead the DubSea Fish Sticks to a 13-3 victory over Washington A’s Premier 18U. Jacob Rolling went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Rylan Gullard homered. Cole Miller earned the win in relief (4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 K). Beau Tait and Gabe Prock each had two hits for Washington A’s Premier 18U, with Daniel Weintraub, Austin Halvorson, and Prock driving in one run apiece.
