Bushnell 10, British Columbia 4. A big game for Reece Carganilla, who finished 3-for-3 with a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning that put the game away for the Beacons. The Beacons led all the way. The Thunderbirds left the bases loaded in the top of the third. The Beacons scored five runs in the bottom of the third on a two-RBI double by Cade Crist, a two-RBI single by Ethan Stacy, who scored on a throwing error on a double by Carganilla. They made it 6-0 in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Isaiah Hart. The Thunderbirds stranded a runner on third base in the top of the fifth when Trent Lenihan got picked off first base and Jonny McGill struck out. They finally got on the board when Mitchell Middlemiss opened the sixth with a home run, but the Thunderbirds stranded runners on second and third. They got back in the game with three runs in the seventh on a two-RBI double by Kyle Yip and a pinch-hit RBI single by Kyle Anderson. They stranded two more baserunners, and the score was 6-4 Beacons. The Thunderbirds came close to tying it in the top of the eighth when McGill hit one all the way to the left field fence with a runner on base, but the ball was caught. With two out in the bottom of the eighth, pinch-hitter Jameson Hussey hit an RBI single, and it was followed by Carganilla’s home run.

Freshman starter Austin Wolfe got the win. He pitched five-plus innings, allowed one run on four hits, struck out four. Colby Knutzen pitched the final 2 1/3 innings, didn’t give up a run, and got a save. Thunderbird starter Ryan Beitel, who gave up six runs (five earned), got the loss. Yip and Russell Young were the only Thunderbirds with two hits. Hart finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. recap

Lewis-Clark State 10, Oregon Tech 2 (Oregon Tech eliminated). Shane Spencer went the distance for the Warriors, allowed eight hits, struck out eight. He gave up a home run by Tyler Horner in the top of the first inning. The Hustlin’ Owls didn’t score again until the ninth inning, with a home run by Kyle Norton. The Warriors got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning; they scored four runs on an RBI on a ground out by Pu’ukani De Sa, an RBI single by Jakob Marquez, and a two-RBI double by Carter Booth (the winning run). They added three runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Charlie Updegrave, a run walked in, and a run scored on a hit batter. They completed their scoring with three runs in the sixth, on a sacrifice fly by Jake Gish, an RBI single by De Sa, who then came home when courtesy runner Ike George was picked off.

Bronson Chapple started for the Owls, was chased after giving up seven runs (only three earned) in 4 2/3 innings, got the loss. Updegrave finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Matthew Ortiz and Alonzo Vergara each had two hits for the Owls. recap

Lewis-Clark State vs. British Columbia suspended due to rain. The Warriors lead 1-0 in the top of the third on a home run by Carter Booth. The starting pitchers were Decker Stedman for the Warriors, and Vicarte Domingo for the Thunderbirds. This was Domingo’s first start of the season.
